PepsiCo?s workplace wellness program fails the bottom line - study
A study by the RAND Corporation of the Healthy Living program at PepsiCo had mixed results for the effectiveness of the program. The study revealed that for employees who had chronic illnesses the program saved about $4 for every dollar spent, but for those without chronic illnesses the program saved no significant amount. The study comes at a time when 90% of companies with more than 50,000 employees have a similar program and many more are adopting similar practices due to the incentives for employers from the Affordable Care Act. The study also shows that all employees who participated in the program missed less work overall.
