Persistent staffing shortages in US hospitality industry have caused some hotels to rely on robots to help with upkeep
Post-pandemic, travel has picked back up with an increased volume of travelers; however, many hotel workers have not returned to their hospitality jobs. Many hotel owners have tried to encourage workers to return by raising wages and offering greater scheduling flexibility but to no avail. Furthermore, hotels have been competing for workers with Amazon warehouses which offer higher wages. In response to ongoing staffing shortages, some hotels have begun to use robots to help with upkeep, catering, and room cleanings.
