Philadelphia Transit Strike Over as Union Strikes Deal with SEPTA
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority reached a 5 year contract with the Transport Workers Union earlier today. The deal includes improvements to pensions and wages, while also holding health care coverage constant. The strike began last Tuesday, and all transportation services are expected to return back to normal by Tuesday. The city had filed for an injunction to force the strikers to work on Election Day, which the court was expected to decide on today. City officials were concerned that the strike would result in low voter turn out on Tuesday.
