Physicians working in the Allina Health system successfully unionize
Hundreds of doctors a part of the Allina Health system in the Midwest have successfully voted to unionize. These physicians work in urgent care and primary care clinics in Minnesota and Wisconsin and stated that in the past few years, these clinics have been constantly understaffed. The shortage of workers has led to increased levels of burnout, compromises in patient safety, as well as backlogs and mistakes. The Service Employees International Union will represent around 400 physicians, and approximately 150 physician assistants and nurse practitioners. The unionization of these workers will make Allina Health physicians the largest group of unionized doctors in the United States.
