Planned Layoffs Drops to 14-year Low as Unemployment Claims Fall
With the lack of layoffs and a decrease in unemployment claims, 2014 will have the fewest layoffs since 1997. In August, employers announced 40,010 planned layoffs but the number was considerably lower for September settling at 30,477 layoffs. The unemployment rate currently remains constant at 6.1%
