Players to Respond to N.F.L.'s Request to Preserve Lockout
On Monday night a U.S. District Judge issued an injunction to stop the lockout of the National Football League Players. The League has filed for a stay on the injunction, and the judge gave the players until Wednesday morning to respond. A stay would mean a continuation of the lockout of players, but if neither court issues the stay, the NFL would have to create rules for operating and let players resume training. If the District Judge does not issue the stay, the League will most likely appeal the decision to the Eighth Circuit Court, meaning that the matter will not be resolved until next week.
