Poll workers' safety at risk amidst high political polarization prompting death threats and conflicts at the polls
As a result of election controversies stemming from the 2020 election in America, poll workers have been trained on de-escalation techniques as there are expectations of hostile conflicts to occur at the polls this election day. In certain counties where conspiracy theories about the last election have grown in prominence, election workers have received death threats and experienced being surrounded by armed ballot-watchers outside of their workplaces. The safety of poll workers in the US has been put at greater risk with the heightened political polarization.
