Portland finally inks labor deal with DCTU, largest group of union employees
More than a year of negotiations between the District Council of Trade Unions and the City of Portland have led to a new 4 year contract extending back from July 2013 and forward until June 2017. The contract will cost the city about $131,000 more than the last, but includes only a 0.9% Cost of Living Adjustment for the first year. The new contract also includes a revision of the overtime rules to include sick leave used in the calculation to tell whether an employee ?worked? more than 40 hours per week, to the dismay of Commissioner Dan Saltzman. This iteration of the contract is the second agreed to by the Portland City Council and the DCTU, but the first was voted down by a majority of the 1,600 union members.
