Portuguese Transport Unions Hold Out Against Privatization
Portugal's public transportation companies currently face rising levels of debt. In response, the Portuguese government has announced plans that it will privatize public transportation such as the subway. Upon hearing this news, employees went on strike marking their 43rd strike in just four years. Portugal currently reports the third highest debt level in the EU.
