Post Office strike to disrupt Christmas mail, says union
Over seven hundred Crown Post Office managers across the United Kingdom are expected to strike on Saturday. The strike will affect Christmas mail, but the Communication Workers Union believes it is the only way to get management to the bargaining table. The union is fighting the closure of its final salary pension plan, as well as the loss of over 2,000 jobs related to the franchising of the Postal Service. Management has responded by assuring customers that the strike would only impact 3% of its service, disrupting less than 300 of the Crown’s 11,600 branches.
