Postal Labor Contract 'Falls Short' of Savings, Issa Says
The American Postal Workers Union, which represents around 202,000 employees and the United States Postal Service reached a 4 and 1/2 year contract, but Representative Darrell Issa says that it is not enough. The contract is estimated to save around $3.8 billion, but Issa says that he thinks it moves in the wrong direction. The Postal Service said that they thought that it was a good agreement that did the best they could. The Postal Service has reported losses in the last five quarters. and owes $5.5 billion on September 30 unless Congress delays it. The contract has yet to be ratified.
