Recently, the labor movement in the US has had a lot of momentum as workers in many large companies push for unionization. Public approval for unions is the highest it's been since the 1960s, and the tight job market has been favorable for many workers. Advocates for the labor movement claim it will be difficult to slow this momentum; however, with the potential recession looming, the bargaining power may shift back to the hands of employers. It has already been reported that the number of union petitions from Starbucks stores has slowed down as the company has aggressively opposed union efforts.
