Pratt & Whitney to lay off 129 Conn. workers
Pratt & Whitney, a jet engine manufacturer says that it will lay off 129 workers at a plan tin Cheshire. The layoffs will reduce the workforce from 520 to 391. The International Association of Machinists, which represents the workers, says that they could save jobs through furloughs or reducing overtime. The union sued the company twice to prevent it from moving jobs to another state. The company says that ut will offer a chance for workers to voluntarily leave, and that some workers will be placed in vacant jobs in other plants.
