President signs whistle-blower bill for US workers
on Tuesday, the President signed a law that will give more protections to federal workers who expose abuse, waste and fraud within the government. The law closes loopholes which had removed protections for whistle-blowers, including that only the first person to report a problem was protected. The law also makes it easier to punish supervisors for retaliation, as well as clarifying the rights that whistle-blowers have. The law is the culmination of a 13-year effort to improve protections for whistle-blowers in the federal government.
