Private industry wages rise faster in Bay Area than any other U.S. region
Over a one year period beginning in March 2013, wages and benefits for private industry have risen by the most in the California Bay Area out of any region in the U.S. The increase for the Bay Area was about 3.6%, and only 1.7% average for all regions in the nation. Excluding benefits, salaries and wages in the Bay Area increased by 3.4% about double the national average of 1.7%. The region has also seen a substantial gain in jobs over the same time period. Santa Clara, which is part of the Bay Area, has seen the strongest job gains in the U.S., increasing by about 3.5%. The Dallas-Fort Worth region placed second to the Bay Area region in both salary/wages and total compensation with increases of about 2.6% and 3.3% respectively.
