Public sector senior pay plan unveiled by Will Hutton
The British Work Foundation released its finding on British public sector pay, and recommended that some employees' pay be related to performance, but did not advocate for a cap. The plan includes recommendations to end comparisons of top pay with that of others, to publish details of compensation online and allow managers more flexibility in moving across sectors. The plan also rejected an idea to link executive pay to that of the lowest paid workers. A spokesman for Unison said that the plan does not address the problem of low wages, and that income inequality should not have been the only focus. The government has said that they will consider the proposals, but did not say if they would implement them.
