Public Service Loan Forgiveness program expanded to religious workers
New regulations to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program went into effect today qualifying religious-oriented workers for the program. The program has specifically excluded religious workers from PSLF eligibility in the past, but the U.S. Department of Education deemed that this exclusion could be a violation of the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution. These new regulations will afford religious workers, in addition to the current eligible jobs in government and nonprofit organizations, federal student loan forgiveness for at least 10 years of work.
