Puget Sound-area grocery workers OK contract
Seattle-area grocery workers have ratified a contract with 95% voting yes according to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. The unions says that the contract includes wage increases, as well as improvements to working conditions and protections for health and pension plans. The workers had threatened to strike during the holiday season before the strike was suspended for the contract vote. The contract covers workers at four major chains in the area, as well as some independent grocery stores.
