"Quiet layoffs" of underperforming employees at Facebook expected within next few weeks
According to a new report, thousands of Facebook employees may be laid off within the next few weeks as the company engages in "quiet layoffs." The term "quiet layoffs" reflects how it appears these employees are moving on with their careers as opposed to how they are being forced out of the company. The employees at risk are those who may be classified as "needing support" and not meeting their performance goals. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced just last week a freeze in new hiring at Facebook and has blamed an impending economic downturn for budget cuts across its departments.
