Quinn Is Said to Be in Talks Over Sick Time
After more than three years, New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has entered into negotiations on a bill that would require businesses to provide sick days for employees. Supporters of the measure have pressured the Speaker and other City Council members to pass the bill, which they say is important not only for workers but for public health. The Speaker has previously said that there were economic reasons not to pass the bill. The current version of the bill would effect companies with five or more employees. The Mayor has said that he will veto the bill if it is passed in its current form.
