Quinn wants $100 million more for public employees
The Illinois Governor has requested an extra $200 million dollars in the state?s budget, and more than half of that will go to pay raises promised to public sector employees. This increase in spending is upsetting to some lawmakers who see the state sinking deeper in debt, unpaid bills are over $7 billion with some creditors who have been waiting for more than 6 months for payment. A judge had previously ruled that Illinois had to make good on previously promised pay increases made by previous Illinois Governor, Ron Blagojevich.
