Rail workers in the UK have continued their labor actions into the new year with a week-long strike. The repetition of rail strikes recently has significantly damaged the system and caused major disruptions for commuters. Furthermore, across the UK there have been widespread labor actions conducted by workers in the public sector. The government has remained firm in its opposing stance to granting wage increases to these public sector workers, and, as a result, such strikes have persisted.
