Raises all around? Federal agency scraps employee rating system
The potential discrimination in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau?s employee rating system and as a consequence, this year?s pay raises, was first reported on March 6th. The federal agency has announced that it will attempt to remedy the situation. At a cost of more than $5 million the agency will give any employee who reached a ?satisfactory? rating or above the top rating, and the pay to go along with. Experts in the field are warning that, while the ?fix? may alleviate the chance of a lawsuit, it does little for employee morale and some studies have shown that higher performers may adjust their effort down if they believe that the rewards they are likely to receive do not factor in differences between high and average performers.
