Rallies demanding university administration to end Starbucks contracts are set to occur at 25 university campuses
Students and faculty members at several universities around the United States have expressed opposition to Starbucks’ stance on union organization, and are demanding that their university administration cancel their contract with Starbucks. Rallies against Starbucks will be held on numerous private college campuses this week, including at NYU, the University of Chicago, and Georgetown University. Students at various public universities such as the University of Wisconsin Madison, the University of South Florida, and Rutgers University will also take part in protests. Organizers of the “Starbucks Gets an F” movement have asked supporters of the movement to sign petitions calling for universities to end their agreements with Starbucks. Cornell University was the first university to end its contract with Starbucks, after students, workers, and faculty members rallied in support of the movement last year.
