Governor Bruce Rauner has announced plans to cut state workers' salaries, so that they are not paid considerably more than their peers in the private sector. Gov. Rauner suggested in his speech that these high wages were unfair to "working families". The American Federation of State, County Municipal Employees Council 31 was insulted by Rauner's remarks .
