Report: Lobbyists spent715M on states
The Center for Public Integrity examined disclosure reports by lobbyists or the companies that hired them in the 39 states that make this information available. Businesses, trade associations, labor unions, and issue-advocacy groups were among the 34,000 principals that spent the money. Almost half the money was spent in California, New York and Massachusetts. The study also ranked states on their lobbying disclosure rules, with Washington State having the strongest reporting system and Wyoming the worst.
