Report of 10,000 Severe Workplace Injuries Might be Only Half the Problem
On Thursday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released its report outlining the 10,388 "severe work-related injuries" that happened in 2015. This was the first year that federal reporting of these injuries was required. Out of these reported injuries, 7,636 of the workers were hospitalized and 2,644 had some form of amputation performed. Despite the fact that employers must report these injuries within 24 hours of the incident, OSHA believes that many still go undocumented.
