Report shows young Chinese workers more demanding
A report from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the government controlled umbrella organization for all Chinese unions, is shedding some light on recent strikes at Chinese factories. The report calls attention to the younger generation of migrant workers, who make up about half of the country's workers. According to the survey, the younger generation is more likely to defend their rights, file complaints, and less willing to endure bad conditions. The survey said that the younger workers have higher expectations of what they should be getting, and are willing to work for it. The report said that to resolve any 'social unrest', they needed to resolve workers' issues. The report comes after a rash of strikes at plants across the country, in which the government did not intervene, leading some to wonder if attitudes towards labor and working conditions in China are changing.
