Republican senators introduce bill to strip power from NLRB
Senator Mike Lee of Utah introduced the Protecting American Jobs Act on Thursday, which would strip the NLRB of its ability to hear labor disputes and make decisions. Instead, the bill advocates for shifting this power to the federal courts. Five other Republican senators, including Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have co-sponsored the bill, which seeks to shift power away from the NLRB due to perceived bias in previous labor decisions. In a statement, Lee stated that the NLRB’s rulings have resulted in the loss of countless jobs and lack fairness and accountability. The introduction of this bill comes just as President Trump’s NLRB nominees are set to advance to the floor of the Senate for a full confirmation vote.
