Restaurant workers demand changes from their employers
As the restaurant business is bouncing back after COVID-19, workers in the industry are demanding changes. There is a widespread labor shortage and workers have reported that this shortage has fueled poor pay and working conditions. Many workers at restaurants like Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers and McDonald’s are orchestrating walkouts and demanding changes to safety protocol, pay, and working conditions. One worker said, “If you want people to work, you just pay workers what they want or at least meet their budget, because if you want us to come work through a pandemic, you should be able to show that you need and want us there.”
