Retailers Cautious As They Hire Holiday Temps
A report by a firm that tracks employment trends says that stores will add around 600,000 temporary workers for the holiday season in October, November and December. The number is up from last year, when stores added around 500,000 workers, but still lower than the 750,000 employees in 2006. The analysts say that stores are in a better place, but are still cautious as to the effects of the recession. Retail sales rose by 0.3% in July and 0.4% in August, making some retailers hope that is a sign of higher sales for this holiday season.
