Retailers Focus on Diversity, But Executive Representation Remains Stagnant
Due to the events of this year, diversity has been a main focus of many retail brands. Many retailers announced hiring goals focused on underrepresented groups and pledged money to support organizations or initiatives tied to fighting racial inequality. Retailers have also made active changes within their organizations. Walgreens, for example, has created small diversity and inclusion groups on specific teams throughout the company, in addition to its overarching diversity team. However, diversity on the executive level remains stagnant, as only 14% of executives/senior level managers identify as a person of color in the retail industry.
