Retailers Track Employee Thefts in Vast Databases
Retail companies like Target and CVS are using databases of workers to keep track of workers who have been accused of stealing. The databases include enough information to stop other retailers from hiring employees, but do not include explanations that might exonerate employees. Some opponents of the databases say that workers are not aware that the databases exist, and that innocent employees can be blamed. For companies, it is a way to combat employee theft and a protection against problem employees.
