Reynolds Tobacco employees to vote on joining union
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company employees will vote on unionization in October. The company said that a petition was filed with the National Labor Relations Board by the International Association of Machinists and the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union on September 12. This vote will the third in 6 years, and the company said that it has not changed its position on the unions, saying that they do not believe it will help workers or the company. 1,234 employees, including technicians, clerical workers and shippers are eligible to vote in the election.
