Rising Corporate Responsibility
Corporate responsibility has been an emerging issue among employees, and employers are beginning to respond by adjusting how corporate juggernauts use lobbyists and political financing to shape public policy. For example, The oil industry has taken a much better approach to climate-change by publicly committing to an energy transition and the aims of the Paris accords. The oil industry’s years of reliance on hypocrisy, lobbying, and misleading public relations tactics is similar to the approach taken by tobacco companies, and its litigation risks are the same as lawyers and activists can frame failure to address climate change as a human-rights violation.
