Roku announces third round of layoffs this year
Hundreds of workers at Roku will be affected by upcoming layoffs, after two previous rounds of job cuts earlier this year. This round of layoffs will impact 300 employees, and reduce Roku’s workforce by 10%. The company has made various changes to cut operational costs, in an attempt to stay ahead of the competition in the streaming device industry. Roku has decreased physical office space and removed certain content from its own streaming platform to lower its budget expenditures. The company experienced a net loss of over $100 million in the second quarter, and it is expecting to earn less revenue in the near future because of the reduction in new movie and show releases due to the Hollywood strikes.
