RPT-AFRICA INVESTMENT-China brings goods and roads, now Africa wants jobs
Leaders in Africa have voiced concern regarding China?s precarious investment in the continent. About 85 percent of Chinese exports from Africa are raw materials, subsequently exporting the job creation from processing that the continent is pining for. Simultaneously, a flood of cheap Chinese goods being imported into the region have shrunk African manufacturing operations. A recent report by UN Economic Commission for Africa drew attention to the risks of the imbalance of trade between Africa and its largest trading partner.
