Rule would promote union rights
The National Labor Relations Board announced a planned new rule which would require most private employees to display information for workers about their rights to form a union and bargain collectively. While the Board normally makes decisions on a case-by-case basis, the Board said that they feel that many workers are unaware of their rights. The display would express that employees do not have to join a union. The rule would take at least 60 days to go into effect, and comments would be allowed during that period. Some say that the rule would encourage employees to explore their options, but a Chamber of Commerce representative said that he did not think the Board had the authority to issue the rule.
