Rwanda is Beating the United States in Gender Equality
Recently, the United States dropped to 28th on the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report. According to this report, approximately 88% of women in Rwanda are employed compared to only 66% of women in the U.S. To make matters worse, only 19% of political jobs are held by women in the U.S. while 64% of those positions are held by women in Rwanda. In fact, Rwanda is ranked 6th on the list putting it above other countries such as Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland and Denmark. Women in Rwanda gained a great deal of political and economic power after they banded together to demand more rights at the end of the genocide in 1994.
