S. Africa Metals Union to Resume Pay Talks to End Strike
The South African mineworkers union will return to the bargaining table Tuesday to resume talks with employers after a weeklong strike that has put the country's credit rating in jeopardy. The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa have demanded an industry-wide pay increase. Seifsa, the association representing much of the country's steel and engineering industry, says it favors government intervention in the strike if the two sides are unable to come to an agreement.
