S. Africa union wins more time for Wal-Mart evidence
South Africa's largest labor federation, COSATU, has gotten an additional 15 days to present evidence against Wal-Mart to South Africa's Competition Tribunal. Wal-Mart is trying to buy South African retail chain Massmart for $2.3 billion. COSATU has opposed the buyout since the beginning, and has threatened boycotts against the store. An Anti-Walmart Coalition says that they want the store to keep labor and supplier agreements intact if Wal-Mart buys Massmart. The Competition Tribunal is the last step before the deal goes through.
