S. Africa's union says rejects Lonmin wage offer
The South African National Union of Mineworkers has rejected a wage offer from Lonmin mining company. The union had been asking for an 11% pay increase, and the company offered 9-10% over two years. The two sides will now attempt to work out their differences with a government mediator. If those negotiations fail, the union will be able to strike. A strike could have a large affect on the mining of platinum at the company's mines.
