S.C. Democrats call anti-union legislation a 'political ploy'
South Carolina legislators are working to make sure that the state retains its' anti-union atmosphere. Among the bills they are considering are ones that would exempt employers from informing workers about their rights to organize. The Governor is being sued by the machinists union over remarks she made about keeping a new Boeing plant nonunion, and the National Labor Relations Board says that they will sue the state unless a change to state law that guaranteed workers secret ballot elections is overturned. The legislators say that they are trying to create a pro-business atmosphere and help the economy recover.
