S.E.I.U Wins Vote Against Rival Union at Kaiser Permanente
The National Labor Relations Board announced the results of a union election for workers at Kaiser Permanente in California. The vote was between the Service Employees International union and the National Union of Healthcare Workers. The vote was 61% in favor of the SEIU. The NUHW said that it would file charges against the SEIU and Kaiser, alleging intimidation and favoritism from Kaiser. The SEIU released a statement saying that they were happy with the outcome of the vote and were looking forward to working together with all the employees. The vote was the largest private sector union vote since Ford joined the United Auto Workers in 1941, with 43,000 employees to be represented.
