SAfrica state workers set Aug 10 for 0ne-day strike
Over a million South African public sector workers will strike on Tuesday, in what some think could be the beginning of a longer strike. The unions rejected a government pay option on Thursday, and announced plans for a strike. Others believe that the fear of a longer strike will lead the government to offer deals that the unions will accept. The unions are demanding a raise of 8.6% and a housing allowance of 1000 rand a month.
