San Francisco Superior Court Clerks claim court management is not bargaining in good faith, participated in one-day strike action
Clerks working for the San Francisco Superior Court went on a one-day strike last week Thursday due to alleged labor violations committed by court management. The Service Employees International Union represents clerks in multiple divisions, including criminal, civil, and juvenile justice. The union stated that court management has refused to negotiate in good faith, and the clerks have been dealing with various problems regarding staffing and training. Clerks are dealing with staffing shortages, and clerks from other divisions have been assigned to cases outside their division to cover for shortages, but different divisions require different training. This has led to several misdemeanor cases being dismissed and has also resulted in delays in trials and hearings.
