SBC Communications has reached an agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for a five year deal. The deal was reached just hours after the existing contract expired, and after the union obtained strike authorization from its members. The union said that they were pleased with what the new deal provided concerning job security and health benefits.
