Schwarzenegger had right to furlough workers, appeals court rules
A court in California ruled Tuesday that former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had the right to order unpaid furloughs for state workers. The State Controller had refused to implement the furloughs for around 16,000 state workers. An order by a judge in 2009 to implement the furloughs was appealed by the controller, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, attorney general, superintendent of public instruction and members of the Board of Equalization. The state says that the ruling will not have an immediate impact on workers, but clarifies rules surrounding jobs.
