SeaTac voters to decide on $15 minimum for airport workers
A group backed by the Service Employees International Union has launched an effort to raise the minimum wage for SeaTac airport workers to $15 an hour. Hourly wages for baggage handlers, cabin cleaners, aircraft fuelers, security staff, parking lot attendants and hotel desk clerks would all come under the umbrella of the raise. The SeaTac City Council has decided to include the initiative on the November 5 ballot. The issue is a microcosm of a larger debate going on across the country about the minimum wage for workers in the service industry.
