Seattle Starbucks workers vote yes for unionization
Workers at a Starbucks store in its corporate hometown of Seattle have voted unanimously to be represented by the Starbucks Workers United union. The store is small with only 13 vote-eligible workers but is located just 10 minutes from Starbucks’ main corporate headquarters. A barista at the store said, “Being it’s in Seattle, where corporate is…I think that’s going to make everybody fee that much more protected, that much more confident in organizing.” Starbucks Workers United says there are 149 other Starbucks stores across the U.S. with signed union support cards requesting an election.
